What is PHATyoga?

The purpose of PHAT Yoga is to bring the yoga healing properties to BIPOC people as in all bodies (or body types) specifically to fight hypertension.  These communities are disproportionately affected by hypertension per Healthline and other organizations. This requires demystifying and decolonizing yoga which can be done by teaching 3 of the 8 limbs of yoga. Yoga is comprised of breathing techniques, meditation & movement. The movement is there to support the first two.

What do you offer?

PHATYoga offers yoga classes and themed workshops. I also offer a Wellness box that includes an assortment of products curated to support the root chakra.

What do you do at grant writing workshops?

These types of workshops are tailored to individuals who want to practice yoga, but need financial assistance. Grants are available to help people who want to embark on their yoga journey. The workshop teaches how to write grant requests in order to receive funds.

Are grants guaranteed?

Grants are not guaranteed, but PHATYoga has a high success rate in obtaining grants for those interested in pursuing yoga to improve their physical and mental health.

Can you help me find grants?

Yes. The grant writing workshops explain how to locate appropriate grant opportunities. You can also subscribe to my list of grants, an option available for grant writing students.

Do you offer yoga classes for people with physical disabilities?

People who have physical limitations can still practice yoga. You will need to fill out a form and schedule a pre-screening appointment. Please contact me at  thiccphatyoga@gmail.com.

How would you accommodate me regarding my physical disability?

After you fill out an intake form and have an initial pre-screening appointment, I will work with you to create an individualized approach for your particular disability. People with disabilities and physical limitations can practice yoga safely and benefit from its healing properties.

Do you have a physical yoga Studio? If so, what's the address?

No, but I have access to indoor yoga space when necessary. Currently, I mainly teach virtually and am open to teaching at parks and other outdoor spaces.
